☣️ Hazmat & Restricted Products
Certain products on Amazon are classified as hazardous materials (hazmat). These items are restricted because they may pose safety risks during storage or shipping. To sell them, you need to be enrolled in the Amazon Hazmat Programme.
📝 Applying to the Hazmat Programme
You can apply directly through Amazon Seller Central.
Sometimes there’s a short waiting list, so it’s best to apply early — even if you’re not selling hazmat products right now. This ensures you’re eligible in the future if a profitable lead comes up.
Many Seller Circle members apply as soon as possible so they don’t miss out on deals in categories like beauty, cleaning, or certain electronics.
📦 Sending Hazmat Shipments
When you’re approved:
Hazmat units must be sent in a separate box from non-hazmat items.
You cannot use Amazon’s discounted Aramex Partnered Carrier rates for hazmat shipments.
Instead, you’ll need to book shipments directly with a 3rd party courier — this is usually more expensive.
✅ Why This Matters
Hazmat restrictions can catch sellers out unexpectedly — you might analyse a profitable lead only to find it’s restricted at checkout. By joining the programme early, you’ll:
Avoid delays when profitable hazmat leads appear.
Access more products and categories than other sellers.
Protect your account by staying compliant with Amazon’s safety rules.
💡 Hazmat can feel complicated, but it’s really just about being prepared. With Seller Circle’s guidance, you’ll know exactly how to apply, which products fall under hazmat, and how to ship them correctly without losing profit.
